Principal - Middle School

Mrs. Joanie Gaskins has worked for Salina Schools for 24 years. She started her
career at the high school as a math and computer teacher in 1995. Mrs. Gaskins left
the high school in 2014 and went to work at Chouteau-Mazie Schools as an
administrator for 6 years. Returning to Salina in 2020. She was the Elementary
Principal for two years, and has been at the Middle School serving as Principal for the
past 3 years where she currently resides. She enjoys working with all ages of children
and has had that opportunity at Salina. She is happy to have had the opportunity to
come back to Salina to finish her educational Career. Her love for her students and
community is unwavering.


Mrs. Gaskins grew up in Mayes County, attending school in Pryor and Adair. She is a
graduate of Adair High School. She attended Rogers State University, Northeastern
Oklahoma State University where she received her BA in Mathematics with a minor in
Computer Science. She received her Masters from Southern Nazarene University with
a degree in Leadership Administration. She is certified in several areas, including
general and advanced mathematics, computer science, and school administration.


Mrs. Gaskins has been married to her husband, Willie, for 38 years. They have one
son, Jake, who is a graduate of Salina High School and OSU. A daughter-in-law, Holli,
two beautiful granddaughters and a set of beautiful twin grandsons. In her spare time
she enjoys spending time with her family camping, boating, traveling, and hanging out
at the lake. Also, watching her granddaughters play sports. Mrs. Gaskins’ favorite
vacation spot is Cozumel where her family loves to scuba dive and spend time on the
beautiful waters.
